A world of languages to discover
European School isn’t just a school of English: for years we’ve been helping individuals and companies learn European, Asian and Arabic languages, using the same teaching method our experience is built on. Our classes are taught by native-speaking or bilingual teachers: choose the language you need, and we’ll guide you towards your goal, whether that’s an official certification, work, study or life abroad.
The languages most in demand at work and in education, taught by native-speaking or bilingual teachers.
English
The language that opens the most doors: job interviews, universities abroad, meetings with international clients and suppliers. Your course starts from the level you actually have and focuses on what you really need — speaking with confidence, writing professionally, preparing for a certification. One-to-one or in a small group, with native or bilingual teachers.
French
A working language in many European institutions and the way into France, Belgium, Switzerland and much of French-speaking Africa. It matters in luxury, fashion, tourism and international cooperation — and to anyone who simply wants to read and listen in the original. We work on pronunciation and register from the very first lessons, because in French they make all the difference.
Spanish
Spoken in Spain and across almost all of Latin America, Spanish is one of the most useful second languages you can add — and one where it is easy to plateau at “getting by”. The course pushes past that: false friends, verb tenses, and the differences between European and Latin American Spanish. Ideal if you travel, study or work with Spanish-speaking markets.
German
The language of one of Italy’s main trading partners, and essential in engineering, manufacturing, chemistry and research. Its structure looks daunting at first and reassuring later: we work on cases and sentence building using examples from the context you will actually use it in. Also popular with anyone considering study or work in Germany, Austria or Switzerland.
Portuguese
Two worlds in a single language: European Portugal and Brazil, with differences in pronunciation and vocabulary that are worth knowing from day one. We agree on the variety you need and build the course around it. Of interest to anyone working with Brazil, to people with family ties in Portuguese-speaking countries, and to Spanish speakers who want to add a close neighbour.
Russian
The Cyrillic alphabet and the case system make Russian a language to be built methodically rather than improvised. We start with reading and writing, then move on to everyday and professional use. It suits people working with Russian-speaking regions, students of history, literature and international relations, and anyone looking for a genuine linguistic challenge.
Courses dedicated to the major Eastern languages, increasingly in demand in business and cultural settings.
Mandarin Chinese
The world’s most spoken language by number of native speakers, and a practical tool for anyone dealing with suppliers and clients in China. We work on three fronts at once — tones, pinyin and characters — so speaking and writing grow together. Complete beginners are welcome: the first lessons are about training your ear.
Japanese
Three writing systems, a grammar unlike anything you already know, and a close link between language and politeness. We begin with hiragana and katakana and the phrases people genuinely use, introducing kanji gradually. Chosen by those working with Japanese companies and by anyone coming from manga, anime, cinema or martial arts who wants to understand them in the original.
Korean
Hangul was designed to be learned quickly, which makes it the perfect starting point for a language attracting more and more interest. After the writing system we tackle the levels of formality that change how every sentence is said in Korean. Useful for anyone with business ties to South Korea and for followers of Korean music, series and pop culture.
Modern Standard Arabic and dialect courses, useful for study, work and building ties with the Middle East and North Africa.
Arabic
A language with two souls: Modern Standard Arabic for the press, institutions and documents, and the dialects people actually speak every day. We decide together which one you need — often both, in different proportions — and start from the alphabet and right-to-left writing. In demand among those working with the Middle East and North Africa, in the development sector, and among students of Arab culture.
